Natural disasters are in the news and occur all the time: earthquakes, volcano eruptions, hurricanes, storms, floods, etc. but accurately predicting when they happen saves lives.
Technological advancements these past few decades have helped us to predict when such events occur. Computers run forecasts and update us in real time on our smartphones and on the news what the weather is going to be like. Seismologists work day and night to provide us with predictions and warnings so should an earthquake occur. Warning systems and alert levels are in place for volcano eruptions, and meteorologists keep us up to date on hurricanes. Since the turn of the century we have been able to more accurately predict naturally occurring events and save lives, which is a good thing.
